Calling all Citizens/NGOs/Trade Bodies/Govt. Officers/Stake Holders....,

Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) is a scheme for Urban Renewal initiated by Govt. of India (GOI) to be implemented over a 7-year period. Under this mission, major cities in the country can avail finances for urban renewal provided certain reform measures and activities are undertaken. Two essential steps of availing assistance include preparation of a City Development Plan (CDP) and followed by project specific Detailed Project Reports (DPRs). The information on the website presents an overview of the City Development Plan (CDP) preparation under the JNNURM. Detailed information on JNNURM process is available at http://urbanindia.nic.in/moud/programme/ud/main.htm.

A CDP for Bangalore is being prepared, under the co-ordination of Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (KUIDFC), and as part of this process more than fifty (50) stakeholder consultations have been held so far. Those stakeholders who participated in these meetings include citizens, resident welfare associations, non-governmental organisations, city level agencies (such as BMP, BWSSB, BDA, BMTC, municipalities surrounding BMP area etc), industry and trade associations and elected representatives. As part of this process, a Vision statement supported by mission statements have been prepared, indicative list of projects and their costs are set out. The financial estimates are normative in nature and would be reassessed during the finalisation of the CDP.

Being the esteemed citizen of Bangalore, we request you to kindly peruse the material posted on the website and provide feedback on the same. Your valuable feedback would go a long way in finalisation of the CDP for Bangalore. As this CDP aims to develop a unified macro level directional document for city’s growth, we request you to restrict your comments to macro and pervasive issues and desist from highlighting localised issues / concerns. While the latter are important, the agencies concerned would be better positioned to address or answer the same rather than by this forum. We request you to kindly give your observations in the following format.

Kindly Submit your feedback on or before 31 May 2006.

1. Please indicate your comments/ observations on the Vision and Mission statement.
